Gingrich and his pandering must end

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said in a recent video feed that President Barack Obama was the , and I'm paraphrasing here, "the most successful food stamp president in US history." He also said something about the GOP trying to put Americans back to work but I knew that was a lie.
After hearing this statement I had for Gingrich in my mind was "Newt, are you serious, bro?"

Yes, most Americans who receive food stamps are Black but that is only part of the story. In a 2010 article published on sodahead.com, Whites, not Black collect the greatest share of public aid dollars. Ever heard of Social Security? Some 61% of welfare clients are White while 33% are black, according to 1990 Census Bureau statistics, the latest figures available. Food stamps recipients are 37.2% Black and 46.2% White.

Gingrich is blatantly distorting the facts in order to continue his tactics of pandering to individuals who could care less about minorities....and don't get me started on Rick Santorum, but I digress. Furthermore, Gingrich failed to mention that the unemployment rate has dropped to 8.6% and he didn't even finish in the top three after the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries...so what are you going to do now, Newt?

It's time for the GOP to stop using Black people as a political booty call in order to appeal to their constituents. In addition, turning welfare reform into a "Black issue" makes racial scapegoating easy and allow stereotypes to go unchallenged.

Oh and Newt, good luck in South Carolina. You're going to need it.
